You can always make a fresh start

You can always make a fresh start

As we step into 2013, many of us look forward to making a fresh start one way or the other. Perhaps a day when we think of new beginnings – forgetting the past, forgiving mistakes, asking to be forgiven, choosing priorities and letting go of the one one thing that was and will be detrimental – the dreaded word _ _ _.

I believe that EGO (oops! did I say that) is like ice creams – you are teased, tempted and drawn as it shows up in different flavours. Beware!

Its time for new resolutions. Its also the time for introspection, moments when there is an inner urge to break free and unleash one’s true potential as we try to harness the power within. Our focus drifts and shifts to thinking how all energy flow can be directed to areas we truly want it to.

For all this to happen, doses of inspiration in forms whatsoever are essential. Here below are words of wisdom from great men and women  that will act like a catalyst between your thoughts and actions. I am sure they will help you stay in the right path and be consistent.

  1.  GRATITUDE HAS GOT TO BE AT THE TOP. LET IT STAY AT THE TOP.

Spend your brief moment according to nature’s law, and serenely greet the journeys end as an olive falls ripe, blessing the branch that bear it and giving thanks to the tree that gave it life – Marcus Aurelius

  2. FIND WHAT YOU REALLY WANNA DO AND BE PASSIONATE

Blessed is he who has found his work; let him ask no other blessedness. He has a work, a life-purpose; he has found it, and will follow it…Labor is life – Thomas Carlyle

  3. SEEK AND UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF SELF-RELIANCE

The force of character is cumulative. Insist on yourself, never imitate. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Trust thyself; every heart vibrates to that iron string. My life is for itself and not for a spectacle. What I must do is all that concerns me, not what people think. This rule equally arduous in actual and in intellectual life may serve for the whole distinction between greatness and meanness. It is hard because you will always find those who think they know what is your duty better than you know it. It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion. It is easy in solitude to live after your own; but great are those who in the midst of the crowd keep with perfect sweetness the independence of Solitude. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

When Emerson wrote that lecture at concord, there was much in the world to despair – greed and corruption, cruelty & exploitation raising their ugly heads. There was growing absorption in material things, a growing disregard for principles and ideals on which a nation was founded. Conditions were truly discouraging.

Think about it now, has anything changed? One other thing that has remained luckily for us are his words of wisdom!

  4. YOU ARE NOT BEATEN UNLESS YOU GIVE UP. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

Today is a new day. You will get out of it just what you put into it…. If you have made mistakes, even serious mistakes, there is always another chance for you. And supposing you have tried and failed again and again, you may have a fresh start at any moment you choose, for this thing we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down. – Mary Pickford

  5. THIS ABOVE ALL: TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE

Words of advice from a father (Polonius) to his son (Laertes) in the play HAMLET by William Shakespeare.

Wishing you a very Happy and Successful year 2013.

“Delight yourself first to delight people around you.
Make your choice NOW!”
